Locals Love It. Influencers Are Moving In. Welcome to Coconut Grove.

Coconut Grove was once a secluded retreat for Miami residents; now, it is gaining popularity with locals and visitors alike. Slightly off the grid and away from the excitement of South Beach, the green district is where the locals come to breathe and where newcomers are beginning to settle in.
This part of town has a chilled-out reputation, pedestrian-friendly streets, and a selective coffeehouse ambiance, so it is not surprising that TikTok and Instagram are filled with images of The Grove.
Coconut Grove may not be new; ask any Miamian. Its energy in 2025 though? That’s definitely new. With reinvented eatery spots such as CocoWalk and a wave of imaginative cafés and small hotels that feel more artistic and laid-back than Brickell’s polished high-rises, the neighborhood is hitting its stride, and is now widely seen as a peaceful Miami escape from the noise.
Why Influencers and Creators Are Obsessed
Open up TikTok and type in CoconutGrove, and you’ll be hit with yoga-in-the-park reels, matcha-and-gelato flat lays, and drone shots of yachts along the marina. More than 4 million TikToks have been posted, and the buzz keeps gathering with 15,300 responses to posts on a Reddit subforum called r/Miami; the Grove has become an unspoken but much-celebrated secret to Miami, except it is not much of a hideaway anymore.
Laid back and cool, Coconut Grove does not have the neon madness of South Beach or the high rises that form Brickell. There is a different taste here that is earthy and real.
It is a place where designers can discover visual landscapes at every corner: deep in vines and banyan tree canopies, colonial-style architecture, and storefronts painted in soft, pale tones.
As a Miami Beach local, it’s one of my favorite areas in Miami to visit as it always feels like a reset. It has a different vibe than anywhere else in the city.
CocoWalk: Where Grove Vibes Meet Glam
The very epicenter of the entire phenomenon is CocoWalk, an open-air shopping and dining district in Coconut Grove that recently underwent a rebranding. Once more of a residential destination, it has evolved, and today is a contemporary lifestyle hub, home to stylish boutiques, buzzy restaurants, and palm-lined walkways that blend Grove charm with modern edge.
Begin your walk at Salt & Straw, the West-coast cult ice cream shop that has now won the hearts of Miami. Here, the interiors are rustic-chic, the scoops are wildly inventive, and yes, it’s 100% worth the wait (and the Instagram Story). Only a couple of strides away, there is the beautiful alternative veg restaurant Planta Queen, where the interior decoration is as appetizing as the food. One can experience botanical chandeliers, velvet chairs, and art-sushi rolls.
If you came to shop, to sip, or to shoot content, CocoWalk Miami is the fine fusion of the city and grove polish.
Café Culture & Cool Corners You Can’t-Miss
Coconut Grove has a heartbeat, and it goes through its cafés. These are no ordinary coffee-to-go spots; these are purposefully created spaces where you can linger, not to mention people-watching and creativity as part of the experience.
Newly opened in Coconut Grove, Pura Vida is the pastel-perfect café that’s gone viral for its wellness bowls, matcha lattes, and the brand’s first-ever gelato window (yes, seriously, and it is cute). As reported in the Miami Herald, this sweet little corner of Pura Vida has quickly become the spot for grabbing a cone and catching golden hour light on camera.
Then there’s Panther Coffee, a Grove staple that’s famous for its cold brew and woodsy interior. It’s an ideal creative hideaway: laptops out, playlists mellow, and baristas that remember your name. (It’s my favorite coffee in the city.)

And no brunch roundup is complete without Greenstreet Café. The red cushions and sidewalk tables are European; the food is colorful and fresh.
Drop by Books & Books, right next door to Panther Coffee. This intimate indie bookshop is something of a Miami legend, the kind of place where you can browse the shelves, discover a book you won’t find anywhere else, and lean into the slower pace of the Grove.

What to Do When You’re Not Strolling
Besides its food and its beauty, Coconut Grove Miami gives you experiences that are accompanied by sunshine, bay breeze, and some rather spectacular backgrounds.
- A nice place to start is Peacock Park. It is right near the marina, a green open area with tall trees and panoramic views of the bay. Go to just rest, stretch, or have a picnic. It’s where the local residents take their dogs.
- Head to the marina, where you’ll be surrounded by rows of sailboats and yachts. It’s an underrated spot for capturing drone shots or enjoying a peaceful morning stroll along the water.

- Do not miss the Coconut Grove Organic Farmers Market. This is a local favorite selling everything a vegan could ever want, i.e., vegan snacks and handmade jewelry. It is a small glimpse of the Grove life at its dynamic best.
- Planning a February visit? The Coconut Grove Arts Festival is a must not miss cultural event. Artists from across the country and beyond put up their art along the roads, and the entire neighborhood becomes an open-air gallery.
Where to Stay: Boutique Hotels That Match the Mood
There are no mega resorts in Coconut Grove, and honestly, there shouldn’t be. The district is preserving aesthetic-oriented boutique hotels in Coconut Grove that also fit into its artistic spirit.

Who’s the Grove For?
Coconut Grove Miami may be trending, but it’s still wonderfully niche. It’s not for the all-night partiers or high-rise jet set crowd. Instead, the neighborhood attracts:
- Couples seeking a peaceful, romantic getaway
- Creators looking for authentic backdrops, not tourist traps
- Wellness-minded travelers who’d rather start the day with yoga and an açaí bowl than bottomless mimosas
- Digital nomads who want café workspaces and walkable vibes
It’s stylish but not loud. Trendy, but not try-hard. It’s the kind of place where you can spend a whole afternoon doing absolutely nothing and loving every minute of it.
Final Take: From Local Secret to Must-Visit
Coconut Grove, Miami was once privately enjoyed by locals, but in 2025, has fully stepped into the limelight. With its own culinary landscape, tree-lined streets, and slightly slower pace of life, it’s the place to be in Miami.
So if you’re in town this weekend or want a little authentic slice of Miami without all the chaos, then it is time to come to The Grove.
